Bellingrath Gardens and Home Tour

Saturday, March 7, 2020

Enjoy a box lunch as you are taken on a short drive from the Mississippi shoreline to one of the Deep South’s most admired attractions, Bellingrath Gardens and Home.  You will feel as though you have stepped back in time as you stroll through a vibrant, ever changing 65-acre garden estate that provides year-round beauty. With Mother Nature’s kind cooperation, in March you will enjoy the blooms of more than 250,000 vibrant azaleas in an explosion of color throughout the property. This splendor is made more picturesque when surrounding Mirror Lake. In addition, you will take pleasure in touring the historic Bellingrath Home.  The 15-room, 10,500 square-foot Home was built in 1935 and was designed by the prominent Mobile architect, George B. Rogers. The lovely home is filled with the original antiques and collections of founders Walter and Bessie Bellingrath. Guests will enjoy seeing the “ultra-modern” bathrooms of 1935, and the kitchen with its original appliances — German silver countertops and sinks — as well as the Butler’s Pantry overflowing with Mrs. Bellingrath’s collection of silver, crystal and china. All in all, you are certain to enjoy the beauty that can be found daily at this great Southern estate!
